Volleyball Canada 14U Nationals – Volunteers Needed!

Volleyball Manitoba is excited to once again be hosting the 14U Volleyball Canada National Championships, taking place May 11-14, 2023 at the RBC Convention Centre and Dakota Community Centre in Winnipeg. To successfully host the event, we will be in need of a number of volunteers to help with the event organization and delivery.

Volunteers and support are needed in the following areas:

  • Venue and Sport Court flooring set-up and take-down (pre and post event – club teams wanted as a fundraising opportunity!)
  • Court Managers: overseeing equipment on the 11-14 volleyball courts, including net height adjustments
  • Gate / Admissions: selling entry passes and ticket Will Call
  • Results Management: post-match score-sheet collection, online result entries
  • Team Services: team check-in and team packages
  • Awards & Ceremonies: team medal presentation coordination
  • Volunteer Management: check-in, volunteer room oversight, refreshments

Volleyball Canada Volunteer Screening Policy:

Volleyball Canada believes that everyone has the right to both participate in sport and work in a safe and inclusive environment that is free of abuse, harassment, or discrimination. We recognize that screening personnel and volunteers is a vital part of providing this safe work and sporting environment. As per Volleyball Canada’s Screening Policy, all individuals over 18 who volunteer with Volleyball Canada’s activities and are in a position of trust or authority and are asked to complete:

  • Complete the online Screening Disclosure Forms (This is in addition to your online Criminal Record Check)
    • Please complete the disclosure form here. There is no need to forward the original hard copy.
    • Under Role PLEASE INDICATE WHICH NATIONALS YOU ARE WORKING AT ex: Volunteer Winnipeg Nationals
  • Online Criminal Record Check
    • Completed Criminal Record Check through Sterling MyBackCheck. For those individuals that do not have a current (within the last 3 years) Record Check to provide, we will send an email and link to complete.
  • Safe Sport Training (CAC Safe Sport Training OR Respect in Sport for Leaders needs to be completed)
    • CAC Safe Sport Training Module – will give you the knowledge and skills to recognize maltreatment in sport.
      • If you do not have a ‘Locker’ account with the Coaches Association of Canada (CAC), simply create one by going to this website.
      • Once you have an account, login and you should see the course under E-Learning.
        You can also find the training on this website.
      • Safe sport is to be completed every 3 years, or if a new course is created.
    • Respect in Sport for Activity Leaders:

*All records will be maintained in a confidential manner and will not be disclosed to others except as required by law, or for use in legal, quasi-legal, or disciplinary proceedings.

**Results management will be handled as described in VC’s Screening Policy.
