Community Youth Volleyball

Join the excitement of our Community Youth Volleyball! This grassroots initiative focuses on delivering age-appropriate playing and training opportunities for athletes who are not involved in club volleyball. Over 500 players in the past year have participated in seasonal programming in Winnipeg and communities across the province.

Volleyball Manitoba is actively looking to build partnerships with groups and communities who are interested in delivering the Community Youth Volleyball program. Volleyball Manitoba is prepared to support interested community leaders and recreation centers to book facilities, rent equipment, recruit coaches, and run registration.

  • For an overview of the age categories and their format please click HERE
  • If you are interested in hosting this program in your community, please contact Alyssa Houde, Program Manager at volleyball.dev@sportmanitoba.ca

The Community Youth Volleyball Program targets youth ages 9-16. Please review our program’s age categories and program formats HERE.

  • Once a community is added to the program, registration and information will be uploaded to our page below.
  • Guardians of the participants are strongly encouraged to participate in helping coaches when needed! A large part of this program focuses on bringing the
community together and getting those around involved. What this may look like:

    • Shagging balls
    • Tossing balls
    • Leading teams for game play (mini-match days/tournament play)

The Community Youth Volleyball Program relies on coaches to provide this opportunity for children to participate. There is no previous experience needed to be a coach for this program. Volleyball Manitoba is dedicated to assisting parents and others in the community who are interested in becoming coaches for this program. Coaches will receive a manual containing weekly objectives and practice plans, skill descriptions and drill examples. Volleyball Manitoba will also be hosting “Intro to Volleyball” zoom calls to discuss with coaches the expectations, formats, and objectives of the different programs.

Requirements: Coaches will be required to complete Background checks (Criminal Record Check & Child Abuse Registry Check), as well as the Respect in Sport for Activity Leaders online modules and Rule of Two online modules.

Please contact Alyssa Houde volleyball.dev@sportmanitoba.ca if you are interested in coaching.
