What is Safe Sport?

Safe Sport is an environment where individuals can have a healthy, supportive, and respectful sport experience, free from all forms of harassment and abuse.

The Protecting Youth in Sports Act came into force on April 1st, 2026, requiring Sport Manitoba, Provincial Sport Organizations, such as Volleyball Manitoba, and Prescribed Organizations to establish comprehensive standards and oversight to protect young athletes, those 21 years of age or younger.

The ‘Safe Sport’ drop down menu pages, on our Volleyball Manitoba website, include a list of comprehensive set of tools, templates, and resources designed to elevate Safe Sport practices, building on our vision of a more welcoming and safe volleyball community. For more resources about Safe Sport and the Act, please consult the Sport Manitoba Safe Sport webpage.

If you or someone you know is experiencing abuse, harassment, bullying or hazing in sport, and you need someone to talk to, call the safe sport line: 1-833-656-SAFE (7233).

In Manitoba, it is everyone’s legal obligation to report suspected child abuse. If, in your honest judgment, you believe that a child may not be safe, you are legally required to report it. The experts at the Safe Sport Line can help you make that report.
