2026 Club Coach Eligibility Requirements 

Guiding Principle : All athletes have the right to be coached by an NCCP Certified Coach!

Volleyball Manitoba (VM) and Volleyball Canada’s (VC) Coach Requirements are to ensure that all coaches participating in VM or VC club events have the knowledge and training necessary to provide every athlete with a safe, inclusive and responsible sport experience.

All coaches have the responsibility to:

  • Have the required training to provide an environment that is physically, mentally, emotionally and socially safe for all athletes and participants.
  • Have the required training to be able to provide a responsible learning environment that incorporates VC’s teaching methodologies, technical guidelines and long-term athlete development principles.
  • Ensure that all training is current and updated as required, to be able to provide a safe and responsible sport experience for all.

SCREENING REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL TEAM PERSONNEL (Head Coaches, Assistant Coaches, Managers, Persons in Authority, etc.)

Deadline: January 29, 2026

Requirement Description Steps:
Screening Disclosure Form (SDF) & Membership Waiver
  • The SDF must be completed on an annual basis. The purpose of the SDF is to allow individuals to disclose any relevant infractions that may have been committed during the three (3) year period in which their CRC and CARC are valid.
  • The SDF can be found on SportLoMo, under the “Certifications” tab on each individual’s account.
  • Membership Waiver Forms are collected online at time of registration in SportLoMo.
  1. Login to member profile on Sportlomo.
  2. Click “Certifications”
  3. Click “Upload Credential”
  4. Select “Screening Policy”
  5. Select “2025-26 Screening Disclosure Form”
  6. The start and expiry dates should automatically populate and then click “save” for the form to open
  7. Fill out the form and click save, to complete the form.
Criminal Record Check (CRC)

*Must Upload to Sportlomo

  • CRCs are valid for a period of three seasons. CRCs must have a date of issue on or after August 1st, 2023 in order to be considered valid for the upcoming 2025-2026 season.
Child Abuse Registry Check (CARC)

*Must Upload to Sportlomo

  • Child Abuse Registry Checks (CARC) are valid for a period of three seasons. CARC’s must have a date of issue on or after August 1st, 2023 in order to be considered valid for the upcoming 2025-2026 season.
  • VULNERABLE SECTOR CHECKS ARE NOT EQUIVALENT TO COMPLETING A CARC.
  • Apply for your Child Abuse Registry Check online HEREResults can be picked up from the Child Abuse Registry Office in Winnipeg or mailed-out to you (see website for mandatory identification requirements for each).
Respect in Sport for Activity Leaders

*Must Upload to Sportlomo

  • Respect in Sport is a simple and convenient free on-line training course for coaches and sport leaders. It is designed as a tool to assist coaches in identifying and dealing with abuse, neglect, harassment, and bullying in sport.
  • Your Respect in Sport Certificate must have a date of issue on or after August 1st, 2021 in order to be considered valid for the upcoming 2025-2026 season.

Safe Sport Training
  1. Go to the Safe Sport Training page
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the page and select “Take the Training”
  3. Log-in using your NCCP number and password
  4. Scroll down, click “Sport” and select “Volleyball”
  5. Select the appropriate check boxes, likely “Coach” and click “Continue”
  6. Click “Begin”

  • The e-modules are designed to provide all the essential information a volleyball coach will need prior to the In-Person Workshops.

Making Ethical Decisions (MED) Online EVALUATION $85 or $40
  • Coaches can also go directly to the MED Online Evaluation without taking the module but only have two attempts to pass before being required to take the module.

Steps on how to complete Making Ethical Decisions Training (online/in-person):

  1. Log in to The Locker with your NCCP # in The Locker. If you don’t remember your password, use the Forgot password linkto reset your password.
  2. Once logged in, click on “Calendar” at the top.
  3. Select appropriate filters, coaches can select “all prov./terr.” to see available options
  4. Click on the event to register

If there are no calendar events and you still wish to complete the Training before the Evaluation, there is a Home Study option for Making Ethical Decisions. To learn more about the Home Study CLICK HERE. A Home Study is self directed learning.

Steps on how to complete Making Ethical Decisions Online Evaluation WITHOUT taking the training:

  1. Log in to The Locker with your NCCP # in The Locker. If you don’t remember your password, use the Forgot password link to reset your password.
  2. Once logged in, click on “eLearning” at the top.
  3. In the left-hand menu, click on “Make Ethical Decisions (MED) Online Evaluation” (45 mins, $85 or free).
  4. Select the stage of athletes from the right that you work with most often.
  5. Scroll to the bottom and click on the “Begin” or “Pay Now” button to begin.
Making Headway in Sport eLearning FREE
  • Making Head Way e-module will help coaches gain knowledge and skills required to ensure the safety of participants.
  1. Log in to The Locker with your NCCP # in The Locker. If you don’t remember your password, use the Forgot password link to reset your password.
  2. Once logged in, click on “eLearning” at the top.
  3. In the left-hand menu, click on “Making Head Way” (90 mins, free)
  4. Scroll down to “Choose your module”.
  5. Click on “Sport (Generic)” module to begin.

14U – 18U HEAD COACH REQUIREMENTS

1st Year Development Coach Workshop
  • All mandatory eligibility requirements are prerequisites for the Development Coach Workshop.
  • The Development Coach workshop is designed to introduce the game of volleyball and basic methodology to the introductory coach working with Train to Train athletes (13-16 age groups).
Currently all Manitoba offerings are full.
2nd Year Development Coach Evaluation
  • The Development Coach Evaluation is the final step of the NCCP Certification process. After successful completion of the evaluation a coach will then receive certified status.
  • The Evaluation includes:
    • Make Ethical Decisions Online Evaluation
    • Making Head Way in Sport (generic)
    • Analyzing Performance Evaluation (Basic Skills)
    • Portfolio & Evaluation (To be completed with a Volleyball Canada evaluator)
