PD Points – Maintenance of Certification

Coaches who are Certified within any volleyball context are required to maintain their Active designation through professional developing and life-long learning.  Certified coaches will receive credit within the NCCP Locker database for completion of approved, professional development experiences.  In order to maintain their Certified status, Development Coaches & Advanced Development Coaches will need to accrue 20 PD points over a period of 5 years. Certified Performance Coaches will need to accrue PD 30 points over a 5-year period.

  • At the completion of your 5 year period as indicated in The Locker, if you have accrued the required 20 or 30 points as indicated above, your PD points will reset to 0.  You are still considered a certified coach and you will have 5 more years to accrue your next 20 or 30 points.
  • At the completion of your 5 year period as indicated in The Locker, if you have NOT accrued the required 20 or 30 points as indicated above, your PD points will NOT reset to 0. Your certification status will change to “not renewed” until you have accumulated the necessary 20 or 30 points. Coaches who have “not renewed” status should update this as soon as possible or they will not be able to participate at Provincials or Nationals. Coaches with this designation have not lost their certification, it is considered inactive. Once the PD point requirement has been met, your PD points will reset to 0 for the next 5-year period and you will return to certified status.
