Sanctioned Tournaments

Club hosted tournaments are only covered for insurance if the tournament is sanctioned. A tournament is considered to be sanctioned when you apply online and payment of the $50.00 sanctioning fee has been received in our office.  Please note that only member teams may participate in Sanctioned Tournaments.

New this year – Volleyball Manitoba will be splitting our Tournament Sanctioning in to two Levels:

Non-Ranking Tournaments – our open sanctioning level, Clubs pay a Tournament Sanction Fee to obtain insurance coverage and for the event to be posted on our Sanctioned Tournament List, Clubs can use any event format they prefer.  Results from tournaments sanctioned at this level aren’t used for Provincial Rankings, and do not count towards a teams 2 minimum required events for Provincial eligibility.

Ranking Tournaments – our new sanctioning level, Clubs pay a Tournament Sanction Fee to obtain insurance coverage and for the event to be posted on our Sanctioned Tournament List, hosts are required to utilize certified referees and utilize best-2-of-3 matches throughout their event.  These event results will be used to determine Provincial Rankings.  These events do count towards a teams 2 minimum required events for Provincial eligibility.  Ranking Tournaments must be open registration and can not be invitation only.

Invitational tournaments (tournaments where out-of-province and/or local teams are granted entry by invitation only) are allowed, but will not count towards Provincial Rankings.

Tournament Timelines:

Clubs can begin to accept “expressions of interest” on September 1st, but are not allowed to require payment in order to secure a spot.

Clubs can begin to confirm tournament registrations and accept payments on December 15th.
