2017 Summer Series Youth Development League Information

 

Weather Update (June 21)

 Games are on as scheduled!  It is currently storming out but it looks like it will pass by game time.  As long as there is no lightning near the courts we will be proceeding as scheduled. If matches are canceled we will post here and email teams.

Location

The VM Summer Series Youth Development League will be hosted on Mondays & Wednesdays at the new Sargent Park Beach Volleyball Facility.

Coaching

New this year Volleyball Manitoba will be offering an updated league structure. 

From 6:15pm-7:00pm, 14U, 15U and 16U athlete will be offered the opportunity to participate in training sessions run by Team Manitoba beach volleyball coaches. 

Following the training session, scheduled matches will begin at 7:00.
Matches will be timed 30 minutes, and athletes will play two matches per evening. 

In addition to League Play, there will be a mid-season exhibition challenge mini-tournament on Thursday, June 29th and a season-wrap-up playoff tournament on Thursday, July 20th. (please note that the season will wrap up early this year, due to the Canada Summer Games taking over the facility in later July)

In advance of the League Season, Volleyball Manitoba will be hosting a training camp opportunity on May 30th & 31st.  Sessions will take place in the evenings and will focus on teaching the fundamentals of Beach Volleyball.  This program is not included in the League Registration Fee, but is recommended for athletes who are new to the game as it will provide them with a good starting point to their season and enhance their experience throughout the summer.  More information and registration for this camp is available HERE.

Refereeing

In addition to the available Coaching, Volleyball Manitoba is endeavoring to have Court Supervisors and/or Referees for most of the Youth League matches.

League participants will also take part in a Beach Volleyball Referee Workshop as part of their League Registration to help prepare them for the league season.

Start Date

The anticipated start date for the Youth League will be June 5th/7th.

Please note that the Youth League will wrap up early this year due to the Canada Summer Games using the venue beginning in late July.

League Meeting

Each team registered in the Youth Summer Series League must send a team representative to the mandatory beach league meeting. This can be a player and/or parent/guardian.

Due to several team defaults this past season, we will once again be collecting Performance bonds this year, so please ensure you bring a $100 Performance Bond cheque to the meeting.

Provincial Championships

Youth Beach Provincial Championships will be hosted at the Sargent Park Beach Facility on August 11th and 12th. 

More information will be available soon.

Leagues Available

All Youth Leagues are currently scheduled to run Monday & Wednesday Nights.

Match start times will be at 7:00pm/7:35pm/8:10pm/8:45pm

Costs

$240 per team +$28.00 membership fees per player (membership fees are only required if athletes are not already VM Members).
