2021 Team Manitoba Youth & Select Programming – Indoor
Team Manitoba 2021 Athlete Identification
Indoor and Beach
Volleyball Manitoba is committed to supporting athletes who want to learn more about the game and improve. Whether you are an athlete who aspires to compete at the Provincial Team level or someone who is just starting out, we will have a program to meet your needs.
The focus of all Team Manitoba training this summer will be on building skills and preparing for the future. For the second consecutive summer, there will be no competitions to attend but we will strive to introduce athletes to what Team Manitoba is all about. When the time comes to return to the court, we want to make sure the next generation of Team Manitoba is ready.
What can I expect this summer?
Although it is uncertain when or how much training our teams will be able to do this summer, Volleyball Manitoba has planned training sessions for the month of July. We fully understand the uncertainty surrounding what lies ahead and all decisions made regarding training will be undertaken with the safety of our athletes and coaches as the top priority.
Training sessions are scheduled to run the weeks of July 6-9, July 12-16, and July 19-23 during the day and potentially in the evenings.
More detailed training schedules for indoor and beach will be made available following the expiration of the current public health orders. At the current time, we are planning for all training sessions to be 90 minutes in duration and include 9-10 athletes in alignment with current RTP and facility protocols.
Will I have to tryout?
No. We will not be able to run our typical Team Manitoba selection camp so there will be an open registration for our program. Through past playing history and future goals we will strive to ensure athletes are grouped appropriately to get the most from their training experience.
If we are not competing and cannot play 6 on 6, why would I want to participate?
We understand that every athlete loves to compete so we will make sure every session has an element of competition to it. If we are not able to get to 6 on 6 game play, we have many different formats to help you compete and develop your game. With smaller numbers of athletes, you will have the opportunity to be much more involved in each session to maximize your skill development.
What ages will be eligible for training?
Ages 10-12 (born in 2011, 2010, 2009)
Ages 13-14 (born in 2008, 2007)
Ages 15-16 (born in 2006, 2005)
