330 Teams & Over 2,500 Players Set to Play at 20th Anniversary Edition of Super-Spike This Weekend!

Winnipeg – Super-Spike, presented by Michelob Ultra, is excited to announce that over 2,500 players comprising 330 teams, are registered to take part in this weekend’s 20th Anniversary festival.

Super-Spike, which takes place at Maple Grove Rugby Park this July 21st and 22nd, combines Western Canada’s largest outdoor volleyball tournament with a weekend long concert series, all set in a festival atmosphere. Canadian icon Shawn Desman will be headlining the Birchwood Automotive main stage at the event, along with 10 other acts performing throughout the weekend.

Super-Spike is ecstatic to have Shawn Desman headline and perform for the first time ever at this year’s festival.  One of Canada’s biggest success stories, this chart-topping, multi-platinum selling, award winning artist has created some of the most recognized songs of the past two decades.

Joining Desman on stage will be Canadian rising star Noelle who will be opening for him on Saturday July 22nd.  Local Manitoba acts Jérémie  & The Delicious Hounds, The Dust Rhinos, Daniel Desorcy, The Black Out City Kids, Upcycle, and Always Dale DJ’s will also be performing on the events main stage.

Super-Spike, now in its twentieth anniversary year, acts as a significant fundraiser with over $1.3 million raised to date for local not-for-profits.  Funds raised form this year’s event will go to support Volleyball Manitoba and their grass roots programs, United Way Winnipeg through the events 50/50 raffle, and Shine Toba, a fundraising arm from the Asper School of Business for the fight against Cystic Fibrosis.
