Statement from the Chair of the Event Organizing Committee:
With the outlook and effects of COVID-19 being unpredictable this summer, and the safety of our attendees and participants top of mind, it is with heavy hearts that we announce the cancelation of this summer’s Super-Spike that was scheduled to take place July 17th & 18th at Maple Grove Rugby Park in Winnipeg. We did not take this decision lightly, and to put it into context, this will be first time in 19 years that Super-Spike will not run.
Along with our 100’s of volunteers, sponsors and partners, we have taken great pride in hosting such an amazing and unique festival each summer, raising over $1.4 million to date for local charities and not-for-profit groups in need.
Stay safe, stay healthy, and we look forward to seeing you all in 2021. Summer’s hottest party will be back, and we plan on coming back bigger and better than ever!
Sincerely,
Super-Spike Event Organizing Committee
Super-Spike, which first launched in 2002, typically see’s over 400 teams and over 5,000 attendees take part each year. The event combines Western Canada’s largest outdoor/beach volleyball tournament with a weekend long concert series, all set in a festival atmosphere. Ultimate Frisbee was also added as an additional sport at Super-Spike in recent years, running in conjunction with the volleyball tournament.
