Level 1 $60.00 (cost includes a rule book and clinician expenses, no other equipment)

  • For those 18 and older interested in officiating high school, senior leagues, age class club and university (line judge or scorer only). Clinics are hosted by Volleyball Manitoba & the MVOA and administered by the MVOA. Match assigning is administered through the MVOA.
  • Starting in 2022, the Level 1 Certification will be delivered through an online training format. This will involve the following:
    • Interested individuals are to register through our SportLomo Registration system HERE.
    • Once registered, individuals will be sent an email from a course facilitator with further instructions and online assignments. These assignments involve a 3 session process of rule interpretation and game facilitation. After each session an assessment will be taken, and upon successful completion of the assessment the next session will then be provided again by email. After the three sessions are complete, a final assessment will be assigned involving all course material.
        • Please Note that the online assignments will not be ready until mid-September after certain sections are updated. In the meantime registrants can review the Rule Book and the Referee Guidelines from 2022-23 to get a head start on the process.
    • The online modules, including the final assessment, can take anywhere from four to seven hours to complete, depending on the individual’s knowledge of volleyball and the rules of the game.
    • Upon completion of all online sessions and the final assessment, individuals will then be allowed to register with the MVOA for match assignments. Assignments could be within the Winnipeg region or the Brandon Westman region, depending on where the referee resides. For a referees first few matches, an evaluator will be assigned to observe and support the referee so they are comfortable and competent in their role.

If you have further questions on the certification process, please contact us at volleyball.events@sportmanitoba.ca
