Volleyball Manitoba is excited to share details for the 2026 High School Beach Open, taking place May 27–30, 2026.

This is a fun beach volleyball tournament featuring Junior Varsity and Varsity:

• Girls 2’s and 3’s
• Boys 2’s and 3’s

Event Schedule & Locations:

Junior Varsity – May 27 & 28
Locations: Maple Grove Rugby Park and Sargent Park

Varsity – May 29 & 30
Locations: Maple Grove Rugby Park and Sargent Park

Registration Process:

Only teachers or school admin can complete the registration forms.

Registration for the High School Beach Open will be conducted by lottery.

To be considered for participation, you must complete the lottery registration form using the provided link below. Failure to submit a lottery registration will result in ineligibility for the event.

 Key details:

• Each team must be entered separately in the appropriate lottery registration form.
• There are eight distinct lottery registration forms—please review carefully to ensure teams are entered correctly.
• The deadline to submit all lottery registrations is April 27.

Schools selected through the lottery will be notified by May 1 and will receive further registration instructions at that time.

No special exceptions will be made.

Schools may submit multiple entries per division; however, no more than two teams per school will be selected through the lottery.

Submitting multiple entries does not increase the likelihood of selection beyond the two-team maximum.

Volleyball Manitoba recognizes that there is overlap between the High School Beach Open and the Volleyball Canada National Championships for some athletes. This was not a decision made lightly. A number of alternative scheduling options were explored; however, due to the broader provincial and national competition calendar, along with logistical constraints, no viable alternatives were identified that would avoid all conflicts. As a result, the event dates will remain as scheduled. We understand that this may require some athletes to make difficult decisions, and we appreciate your understanding as we work to provide meaningful opportunities within a very condensed and complex competition calendar.

REGISTER FOR THE LOTTERY HERE:

As of April 1st, 2026, the Government of Manitoba’s Protecting Youth in Sports Act is now officially enacted. As a result, all Provincial Sport Organizations (PSOs) are now mandated to adopt Sport Manitoba’s Safe Sport Policy Manual. In compliance with the Act, our organization has formally adopted the following Sport Manitoba safe sport policies:

1) Code of Conduct and Ethics Policy;

2) Discipline and Complaints Policy;

3) Alternate Dispute Resolution Policy;

4) Appeal Policy;

5) Respect in Sport Policy; and

6) Coach Screening Policy Minimum Requirements.

These policies outline critical information for all stakeholders including, but not limited to, behaviour expectations for participants, procedures for handling complaints of maltreatment, disciplinary measures that can be imposed if someone is found to have engaged in maltreatment, and coach education and screening requirements.

These policies apply to all PSO-sanctioned clubs, teams, programs, and individuals operating under Volleyball Manitoba’s authority. This means all clubs must comply with The Protecting Youth in Sports Act and safe sport policies.

Importantly, all allegations of maltreatment must be reported directly to an Independent Third Party (ITP) mechanism. Member clubs, teams, or individuals must not manage, assess, or investigate maltreatment complaints internally. The ITP is responsible for receiving, reviewing, and managing all allegations of maltreatment, ensuring independent, unbiased, and safe handling of each case.

Volleyball Manitoba is proud to announce the 2025 High School Graduating All-Stars from the A–AA-AAA Girls, A–AA-AAA Boys, AAAA Girls, and AAAA Boys divisions! These athletes have demonstrated exceptional skill, dedication, and leadership throughout their high school volleyball careers, and we congratulate each of them on earning this well-deserved recognition. The Graduating All-Star Banquet and Games highlight the dedication, sportsmanship, and excellence of Manitoba’s high school volleyball community. We look forward to celebrating these remarkable athletes and hope to see you there cheering them on!

Grad All-Star Banquet – December 6

All selected All-Stars are invited to be celebrated at the Graduating All-Star Banquet on Saturday, December 6 at 9:00am at the RBC Convention Centre. This special event brings together the top graduating athletes from across Manitoba for a morning of recognition and celebration.

Tickets are required and can be purchased online.

Grad All-Star Games – December 6

Following the banquet, fans, families, and supporters are invited to watch Manitoba’s top graduating athletes compete. The Grad All-Star Games will take place at the: University of Winnipeg – Duckworth Centre, games begin at 12:30pm.

Tickets are required and can be purchased at the door for $5.

As we approach the opening of the formal offer period, Volleyball Manitoba would like to provide an important reminder to ensure all clubs and families are following the established guidelines

No offers are permitted to be made until Sunday, December 7 at 6:00 p.m.
The only offers that should have been made prior to this date were those issued during the Early Signing Period.

Any email, written message, or communication that states or implies:

• A player is being offered a spot,
• A spot is being held for them, or
• They are being guaranteed placement in any way before December 7

is outside the rules.

Important for Parents

If you receive an offer—or any message resembling an offer—before Sunday, December 7, please be aware that the club or team is not adhering to the required process, and this should be concerning as a parent. These rules exist to protect families and ensure fairness for all athletes.

Important for Coaches (especially 13U & 14U)

For the 13U and 14U age groups, it is especially critical that no offers are sent prior to December 7, even if initial timelines suggested otherwise.

Offer Response Period

Any offers sent on Sunday, December 7 at 6:00 p.m. must remain open until: Tuesday, December 9 at 6:00 p.m.
Athletes must be provided the full 48-hour window to decide. After this 48 hr window, all offers made must provide 24 hrs for athlete acceptance.

Entering the world of Club Volleyball can feel overwhelming — tryouts, signings, new coaches, and a full calendar of tournaments! To help parents make confident, informed decisions, Volleyball Manitoba has created this simple guide to support you and your athlete through the process.

1. Choosing the Right Club

When exploring club options, take time to learn about each program’s values, structure, and reputation.
Here’s what to look for:

• Social Media Presence: Does the club share positive, inclusive messages and celebrate athlete growth?
• Reputation: Ask other families about their experiences. A club’s culture and communication style can make all the difference.
• Policies and Processes: Transparent registration, refund, and discipline policies show professionalism and accountability.
• Coaching Staff: Look for certified coaches with NCCP training and Safe Sport certification. Don’t hesitate to ask who will be leading your athlete’s team and what experience they bring.

2. Understanding Policies and Signatures

Before joining a club, review all forms and policies carefully. Parents and athletes are typically asked to sign agreements related to:

• Code of Conduct
• Refund Policy
• Safe Sport and Abuse-Free Environment
• Photo/Media Consent

These documents ensure everyone understands expectations and responsibilities for the season.

3. Early Signing – What’s Allowed and What’s Not (from September to December)

Volleyball Manitoba has strict rules around early signing to ensure fairness and transparency in the recruiting process.

• Clubs cannot make offers to athletes before official tryout dates.
• All offers must be in writing and athletes must have at least 24 hours to decide.
• Tryouts for most age groups begin in late November and early December, so any early commitments outside this window are not permitted.

This timeline is designed to give all athletes equal opportunity to explore clubs before making a decision.

4. Education Opportunities for Parents

Parents play a crucial role in creating a positive experience for young athletes. Volleyball Manitoba recommends exploring:

• Safe Sport Training – Learn how to recognize, prevent, and respond to maltreatment in sport.
• Parent in Sport Resources – Available through Volleyball Manitoba and Volleyball Canada, focusing on supporting athletes’ well-being and development.

5. Training and Team Opportunities

As your athlete develops, you may encounter additional training options. Keep these guidelines in mind:

• Athletes may only appear on one official club roster per season.
• Private training can complement club practices but should not conflict with team commitments.
• Working with different teams or guest training must be approved by both coaches to avoid eligibility issues.

Remember — consistent communication between parents, coaches, and clubs helps athletes thrive.
